It is true that Bucks County displays both beauty and bounty all year long throughout the four seasons. Between the natural scenic beauty (hills, landscapes, and valleys), the cultivated beauty (farms and gardens), and the architectural beauty (historic houses, mills and original taverns), Bucks County offers many picturesque opportunities regardless of the time of year.
There is something about the fall season, though, that is worth captivating and savoring each and every moment. With the cooler temperatures and beautiful hues of red and orange leaves falling from the maple and oak trees, all of this consists of the perfect backdrop for fall photos. Bucks County was recently named the #1 Fall Foliage Destination in the U.S. and there is a reason as to why! Priceline as well as other notable mentions such as Travel + Leisure, NY Times, Forbes, MSN and more recognize the value of celebrating the autumn season here in Bucks County.
Below are a few of my favorite locations that capture both the essence and beauty of fall in Bucks County:
1. Washington Crossing State Park- Washington Crossing:
- Washington Crossing Park
One of the main reasons that my husband, Justin, and I got married in the month of October, is that we could take our wedding photos in this park (our reception was at Washington Crossing Inn). We knew we wanted the great tree-lined paths, historic buildings, and views of the Delaware River and the Washington Crossing bridge in the background to make the perfect setting of a true Bucks County wedding. Gathering at Washington Crossing Inn just tied everything together.
2. Tyler State Park- Newtown:
- Schofield Cover Bridge- Tyler State Park
When you first drive into this 1,711-acre park, you are greeted by a tree-lined path that leads into the outside of the Earth Center for the Arts. On the opposite side of the park is the Schofield Covered Bridge. This is the only covered bridge in the county that is not on an active road and is accessible to get to.
3. Delaware Canal State Park- throughout Bucks County:
- Delaware Canal Towpath
This 60-mile Canal towpath features the best fall foliage views in Bucks County. It also happens to be the only remaining, in-tact canal of the great towpath canal-building era. Whether you want to be active by taking a walk, stroll, bike ride or by taking it easy with packing an afternoon picnic, either option will give you the perfect view.
4. Bristol Wharf- Bristol:
- Bristol Wharf
The waterfront gives unique river views with two large floating docks and has a surrounding park alongside. The park has benches throughout that you can enjoy the view of water and experience the rich history of the area.
5. New Hope and Ivyland Railroad- New Hope
- New Hope Railroad
If you want to take a different approach to see the fall foliage, climb aboard the New Hope Railroad, a 1920s steam locomotive! Perfect for families, this is a fun way to step back in time and enjoy the beautiful views of the county through the windows of the train.
From scenic views of local parks to historic towns to a delicious seasonal farm to table meal you will never run out of fall photos to capture the moment according to locals and tourists alike.
