Just because there is a chill in the air does not mean there is a lack of activity in Bucks County! There are great spots for coffee, brunch, candle making, wine tasting, and shopping. Grab your plus one and check out some of these local favorites.

Meadowlark Bakery and Café

Meadowlark blog   Meadowlark blog

Located in Warminster, this little gem has been open for two years serving up coffee, tea, pastries, breakfast, sandwiches, and ice cream!

My companion and I visited on a Saturday around lunch time and had a difficult time deciding what to order because everything sounded delicious. We chose The Meadowlark, consisting of fresh smoked turkey, bacon, lettuce, avocado, gruyere, garlic aioli, piled high on their home- made sourdough bread and the Peter Piper which is a hot honey grilled chicken on a brioche bun garnished with slaw, arugula and ranch dressing. To wash it down, we chose the London Fog and Iced Carmel Latte. With the baked goods case up front staring at us, we completed our order with an iced pumpkin snickerdoodle cookie and a lemon-blueberry cupcake. We headed around to their cozy courtyard and heated porch area and devoured our plentiful portions.  All was fresh and flavorful, enjoyed at our quaint table for two. Whether you want a quick coffee, something sweet, or a meal, Meadowlark has you covered.

Wax N Scent Studio

Wax n Scent blog   Wax n Scent blog

Wax N Scent is located on Main Street in New Hope and started welcoming the public to make candles in 2020 in their warm and cozy establishment. They offer four different candle making experiences:  Melt N Pour, DIY Cut and Create with colored wax in a glass container, Make a shape candle, and even a kids offering called JR Wax.  In addition, they have pre-made products for sale and can also cater to an off-site party or team building event.

We had reservations for the Melt N Pour or the cooking experience as Moe, the owner and our host, called it. Moe led us through the process and took her time to explain each step during this 90-minute experience.  We first chose our vessel and then went through extensive smell testing of the seasonal fragrances. Get a whif of this: throughout the year, 175 unique fragrances are offered! She came out with our wax and chosen fragrances, and we inserted the thermometers to come to the exact temperature needed to pour around the lead-free wick.  We then picked our glitter and dried flowers to adorn the top.  I highly recommend cooking with Moe!

Heirloom Doylestown

Heirloom blog  Heirloom blog

Brunch isn’t just for Sundays!  You’ll find it here Wednesday through Sunday in the heart of downtown Doylestown on State Street. Heirloom is a BYOB and offers breakfast, lunch and dinner on Friday and Saturday nights while embracing the farm-to-table philosophy offering fresh squeezed orange juice and dishes made with locally sourced ingredients.

For beverages, we had fresh squeezed orange juice, coffee and hot tea, arriving in its own little teapot. We started with the crushed avocado and a seasonal bread and spread- whipped pumpkin, ricotta over apple butter dressed with crisp apple slices and honey- YUM!

I think we could’ve been more than satisfied at this point. But, we forged on to the Heirloom Benedict: Over easy eggs with mortadella over arancini topped with lemon thyme hollandaise, Challah French Toast: Vanilla cream cheese frosting, local honey and berries and WARM syrup, and the BETCH. Imagine sinking your teeth into a sweet potato bun stuffed with applewood smoked Bacon, fried Eggs, Tomato, Cheddar, and sage brown butter Hollandaise- truly a masterful flavor explosion!  Have you ever been completely stuffed, but kept eating because the taste was too good to stop? Guilty!

Knox Vineyard

Knox blog

Opening its doors just a few months ago, Knox Vineyards is a newcomer to the Bucks County wine scene, however, owner and winemaker, Matthew Knox, is NOT a newbie to this trade. He has been making wine and dreaming of opening his own winery for 20 years!

The wine tasting consists of all six of Knox’s wines made from grapes grown right on his property- no importing of grapes here!  We were also treated to a warm, mulled wine made with the Catawba, perfect for a chilly day. Each wine has a unique, fresh taste whether it was the sweeter Niagra or the Foch which was truly a distinctive and pleasurable taste!

After the wine tasting, we got a behind the scenes look at where the magic happens.  Mattew explained the processing steps and how important the timing and ingredients are to accomplishing a high-quality product.  We then chose to have a glass of Foch and sit outside on the spacious patio.  There is plenty of seating inside and out, both with a cozy, relaxing atmosphere. Stop in for a tasting and ask Matthew for his mulled wine recipe- he’ll give it to you! I am looking forward to returning and seeing Knox Vineyard continue to evolve.

Dublin Town Center

DTC blog   DTC blog

Dublin Town Center is located just where it says it is and is comprised of two building structures and an apartment community. The Square is an old brick factory transformed into a cozy space for shopping, eating, health and wellness consulting, and office space. The Station, right next door, has several different eating and drinking options with indoor and outdoor seating.

My partner and I met at the Square on a Saturday afternoon and explored the local retail shops where I happily started my Christmas shopping! This space also houses The Boiler Room, a fine dining restaurant offering local sourced dishes and signature cocktails.

After shopping, we were hungry and thirsty, so we headed next door where there were multiple options to choose from. We chose a wood fire pizza from Itri and took it into Neshaminy Creek Brewing to catch some college football and some local suds. A great way to spend a weekend afternoon!

So, where will you get cozy in Bucks County?
